National Guest Speaker: Dr. Catherine Clark Kroeger

Catherine Clark Kroeger Catherine Clark Kroeger holds a doctorate in classical area studies with a specialty of women in ancient religion. She is ranked adjunct associate professor of classical and ministry studies at Gordon Conwell Seminary. Her particular emphasis is upon the biblical basis for women's equality in church, home, and society. Her publications include the following "I Suffer Not a Woman" (another look at the context of I Timothy 2:9-19), "The IVP Women's Bible Commentary", "A Study Bible for Women", "No Place for Abuse" (now in its seventh printing) and "Refuge from Abuse" She has served as founding president of Christians for Biblical Equality and Peace and Safety in the Christian Home

Education:

Ph.D., Classical Area Studies, University of Minnesota, 1987.

M.A., Greek, University of Minnesota.1982

A.B., Bryn Mawr College. Major in English, minor in Greek.

Area of Specialization: Women in Ancient Religion, especially women and the Apostle Paul. Great Africans of the Bible and Early Church. Human Sexuality and the Biblical Mandate. Domestic abuse and the Bible.

Other concentrations:
Greek New Testament, the social context of the New Testament and early Church, Luke-Acts, History of Western Asia Minor, Greco-Roman religions, the ancient family, Christian ethics and ancient pagan attitudes toward sexuality, women and the Bible, female leadership in the early Church, women and spirituality.
Dissertation topic: The Nachleben of Euripides' Antiope: The Heroine's Transformation into a Mystagogue and an Element in the Justification of Zeus.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
